Eric Fraga received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo. Before joining UCL in 1996 as an EPSRC Advanced Research Fellow, he was a Senior Research Fellow in the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Edinburgh. In 2012, he held the Santos Chair of Energy & Resources at UCL Australia, where he also served as the Academic Director. His research focuses on developing computational methodologies and designing computer interfaces to aid engineers in utilising advanced computational tools. He has developed notable systems, including the Jacaranda system for automated design and process optimisation and the Strawberry and Fresa nature-inspired evolutionary optimisation methods.
