Adam Hawkes serves as a Professor of Energy Systems at Imperial College. He holds the position of Research Director of the FCDO’s Climate Compatible Growth program, and is the Editor-in-Chief for Elsevier’s Renewable and Sustainable Energy Transition journal. His research focuses on quantitative assessment of energy systems, analysing technical, economic, security, and environmental aspects of energy transitions to inform policy and engineering practices. He specialises in energy systems modelling, the relationship between energy and development, the role of hydrogen and alternative fuels, methane emissions mitigation, heat sector decarbonisation, micro-grids, smart grids, and decentralised energy resources. His background includes energy consultancy, energy trading, government policy impact assessment, and ICT development.
