Mehmet Mercangoz holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara and has previously served as a Senior Principal Scientist and Technology Manager of Artificial Intelligence at ABB Future Labs. His research focuses on the development of autonomous intelligent systems to enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of industrial plants and processes, namely through the use of novel AI. His group leverages process modelling, model predictive control, optimisation, and machine learning, with applications in gas compressors, power plants, pulp and paper production, heat pumps, and electro-thermal energy storage systems.
