Chemical Engineering – UCL
Luca Mazzei holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UCL. Prior to this, he accumulated several years of experience working as a process and start-up engineer focusing on sulfur recovery and refinery tail gas treatment. He is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (MIChemE), a Chartered Scientist (CSci), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Prof Mazzei’s research primarily centres on multiphase systems, with particular emphasis on fluid-particle suspensions. His work integrates theory, simulations and experimental techniques to gain a fundamental understanding of these systems and processes. This comprehensive approach aims to support technological innovation, enhance productivity and minimise environmental impact. His contributions in this field are driven by a commitment to applying fundamental knowledge to practical challenges in engineering.
